President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that the Indian military is not going to come to the Maldives.
Speaking at the PPM event: Youth Nation, tonight, Preisdent Yameen said that the Maldives is, in all meanings of the word, a paradise on earth. But there is a group of people who want to make the country a war zone.
President Yameen said that President Nasheed and those who work with him are continuously trying to bring the Indian army to the Maldives. But India won't come to the Maldives as it is a close ally.
The President said that there are things difficult to India as well and that is geo-politics.
President Yameen said that bigger countries may have things they do not always agree on but the Maldives is at the most geo-politically stable region and our leaders must work to keep it from becoming a war zone.
The President said that we should work to attain the economic benefits and his predecessors had the same opportunity and requested that he be allowed to complete his term as the President of the country.
President said that efforts should be put to bringing changes but some of the political leaders are calling to make the country a war zone. He said that the Maldives is the land of the Maldivian people and they would make decisions on their own.
Indicating to his political oppositions, President Yameen said that the events taking place are not related to him and there is no need to have a personal grudge against him.
"One is my brother", President Yameen said, indicating to former President Maumoon, "the other is one who worked together as brothers."
The President has made the remarks after the former President, Mohamed Nasheed, took to twitter earlier this month calling for military intervention from India.
