A. E. Abdul Muhaimen, a Bangladesh citizen, has been appointed CEO and MD of Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB).

The MIB announced the appointment in a press statement last Monday.

Muhaimen had been serving as CEO and MD of United Commercial Bank of Bangladesh before joining MIB in January 17, prior to which he served as CEO and MD of one of Bangladesh’s leading banks - Brac Bank.

“I am very happy and excited to be with MIB in Maldives. Maldives have tremendous potential to become the regional hub for Islamic Banking in the region and I believe MIB will be a major partner in that journey,” said Muhaimen regarding his appointment.

Muhaimen, who began his career as Management Trainee at the ANZ Grindlays Bank in 1986, has over 30 years of experience with multi-national corporations and regional banks in Asia, Australia, and Middle East, holding C-Level jobs in key business and support roles, reports MIB.

He has a post graduate degree in MBA from IBA, Dhaka University, and attended strategic senior management executive courses at INSEAD, Singapore; Cambridge University, UK; Mount Eliza of Monash University, Australia; and Harvard University, USA.
