Arrangements have been made for the purchase of agricultural products in the Maldives by the Agro National Corporation.

The state-owned corporation was formed to develop the agricultural industry of the country and will be tasked with developing and marketing the supply chain of agricultural products in addition to purchasing the products at the right price.

In a tweet, Agro stated that the corporation has now begun its operations and will focus on alleviating the impact of COVID-19 on the economy and increase the food security of the country at a fast pace. Specific numbers for the sale of products have also been issued by the corporation.

Information on agricultural workers and their products are to be shared with island councils which will be communicated to the corporation via the VUNA module of LGA.

Farmers should also work to complete the assigned supply of products after an agreement is formed with the corporation that will detail how the products will be purchased.
