Managing Director of MTCC, Ahmed Azim stated to Sun that the virus-positive employee worked at the Vilimale’ Ferry Terminal. The individual was tested positive after consulting with a flu clinic regarding symptoms.

Azim stated that other employees in contact with the positive individual were also placed in quarantine facilities and the disinfection of the terminal was now underway. He added that the services of the terminal would not be disrupted during the process.

Tweeting that a special policy was in place to ensure the safety of its frontline workers, Azim said “ I thank the beloved frontline employees of MTCC working on the frontline and providing exemplary service to the citizens during this delicate situation.”.

MTCC has previously arranged accommodation for its workers operating transport services such as Speed Ferry, Metro Bus, Private Hire and Ferry. The move was to ensure that workers do not put their families at risk by returning home from work every day.

The company is involved in the transport of possible virus cases to quarantine facilities and positive cases to isolation facilities in addition to the supply of goods to these facilities. MTCC also operates ferries to transport health workers living in Hulhumale’ to work.

Employees from STO and MPL have also previously tested positive for the virus.
