National Emergency Operations Center has announced that 26 Maldivian nationals in Thailand has been evacuated.

Speaking in a press conference tonight, NEOC spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez said that the stranded locals were evacuated on a Maldivian flight today.

“They purchased tickets on a Maldivian flight. Arrangements for them to travel back home are made after they complete a 14-day quarantine period.” Said Mabrouq.

The flight that departed to evacuate the locals also carried 15 Thai nationals back home. A total of 349 Thai nationals have been repatriated from the Maldives.

Maldivian is also conducting cargo flights abroad.

The government has previously repatriated locals stranded abroad due to the COVID-19 travel restrictions.
