Maldives has been nominated for 10 prestigious award categories at the 27th World Travel Awards 2020, an award often described as the Oscars of the travel industry.
The red carpet event is set to take place at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya, on October 3.
Maldives has been nominated for the following Indian Oceans’ categories:
In a statement on Tuesday, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) said that Maldives, along with its pristine natural beauty, continues to provide impeccable services to tourists.
Voting has begun, and will close on 04:00 pm (local time) on August 22.
Maldives has received multiple awards in various categories over the years. In 2019, the destination won Indian Ocean’s Leading Dive Destination, Indian Ocean’s Leading Honeymoon Destination, Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination and World’s Leading Beach Destination.
Maldives has won Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination award 12 times over the past 16 years.
World Travel Awards was established in 1993, and serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. The awards is recognized globally as the hallmark of industry excellence.
MMPRC said it believes the nominations for this year’s World Travel Awards will aid to strengthen the image of the destination as it readies to reopen its borders to tourists on July 15.
