The Parliament has voted to dismiss Mohamed Zahid, the Vice President of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives from the post.

A total of 61 MPs voted to oust Zahid from the post due to repeated misinformation in the case of murdered blogger Yamin Rasheed. He is also accused of obstructing the work of the parliament. Negligence in the case of missing journalist Ahmed Rilwan is also another reason for his dismissal.

The Parliament decided that Zahid was unfit to serve in the post due to the high number of negligence cases against him. The Parliament had also been proceeding to dismiss three other members from the Commission before they resigned.
