Jaish appointed chairman of HDC

Mohamed Jaish Ibrahim has been appointed chairman of Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

According to the Finance Ministry, the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) appointed Jaish to the position this Tuesday.

A number of Board members of state-owned enterprises were dismissed on November 22, 2018, including then-HDC chairman Mohamed Shahid.

With Jaish’s appointment as HDC’s chairman, the corporation’s board is now composed of; managing director Suhail Ahmed and directors Ibrahim Afrath, Abdulla Rameez, Ahmed Athif and Hassan Muneer.

The appointment comes amidst plans to merge HDC with the Greater Male’ Industrial Zone Limited (GMIZL).

GMIZL was established during former Maldivian president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration to manage Thilafushi and Gulhifalhu, while HDC was established during former Maldivian president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's administration to manage suburban Hulhumale’.
