Maldivian family detained in Sri Lanka over visa issues

A Maldivian family living in Sri Lanka has been detained by authorities regarding visa issues. 

Foreign Ministry said that a Maldivian family who had been living Sri Lanka under an overdue visa had been detained and that the High Commission had been informed of the family. 

Consular services have been extended to the family from the High Commission, said the Ministry.

Maldivians have been arrested in neighboring Sri Lanka regarding visa issues on previous occasions as well. The Ministry advised adhering to the laws and regulations of countries to locals living abroad.
