Traveler from Maldives to Malaysia tests positive for COVID-19

An individual that traveled to Malaysia from the Maldives has tested positive for COVID-19.

Information published on the Malaysian Health Ministry’s official Twitter account showed that an individual that traveled to the country from the Maldives was among those who tested positive today. The case is recorded as an imported case, however, authorities did not disclose the nationality of the individual. 

Around 50 local students had recently returned to Malaysia to continue their studies.

The students had traveled to the Maldives due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in Malaysia. A previous case of a Maldivian in Malaysia who tested positive for the virus was reported. 

Malaysia has a total of 9,267 cases of the virus.
