Two Indian funded projects in Hulhumale' inaugurated

Two projects undertaken with the assistance of India in Hulhumale’ has been inaugurated today. 

The projects include the renovation of the Hulhumale’ Jetty Area and Central Park in the suburb. 

India will be providing MVR 995,385.12 for the renovation of the Jetty Area. A total of MVR 10.8 million will be spent by India on the renovation of the Central Park.  

The projects are funded under the MVR 106 million aid package arranged by India in 2019.

The projects will be carried out by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC). Central Park will see the construction of bicycle lanes, new seating areas, and renovation of lighting systems. The Jetty Area will also be modernized under the projects. 

The projects were inaugurated in a virtual ceremony where Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid and Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives Mr. Sanjay Sudhir as well as Hulhumale’ MP Ali Niyaz took part. 

Minister Shahid, speaking at the ceremony said that the projects would bring a number of conveniences to the residents of Hulhumale’ as well as visitors.
