Schools in Male’ City will continue online classes for students due to the situation with COVID-19, for the next two weeks, the Education Ministry has announced.

Online classes have been conducted due to the spread of COVID-19 for more than a month. However, students of Grades 11, 12 are required to attend schools physically to continue their education. This is to prepare the students for their upcoming A’ Level examinations.

The Ministry first closed down schools following the identification of the first case of the virus in the country back in March. Schools eventually recommenced for Grades 9 and above in July after cases died down, only for the decision to be reverted due to a return of high case numbers.
