COVID-19: 48 active cases in 21 residential islands outside Male’

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced there are currently 48 active coronavirus cases in 21 residential islands outside the greater Male’ region.

Maldives has 9,568 confirmed coronavirus cases. 1,452 are active cases.

48 of the active cases are from residential islands located in the atolls. The islands are:

  • H. A. Dhidhdhoo (4, home quarantine)
  • H. A. Ihavandhoo (7, home quarantine)
  • H. A. Kelaa (1, home quarantine)
  • H. Dh. Hirimaradhoo (1, home quarantine)
  • Sh. Feevah (1, home quarantine)
  • N. Manadhoo (1, home quarantine)
  • R. Rasmaadhoo (1, home quarantine)
  • R. Dhuvaafaru (1, contact)
  • Lh. Naifaru (3, contacts)
  • K. Huraa (1, home quarantine)
  • K. Hinmafushi (1, home quarantine)
  • Dh. Hulhudheli (1, home quarantine)
  • Th. Veymandoo (1, home quarantine)
  • L. Gan (1, home quarantine)
  • G. A. Vilingili (1, home quarantine)
  • G. A. Maamendhoo (1, home quarantine)
  • G. Dh. Hoadedhoo (17, contacts)
  • G. Dh. Gadhdhoo (1, home quarantine)
  • G. Dh. Thinadhoo (1, home quarantine)
  • S. Gan (1, contact)
  • S. Hulhudhoo (1, home quarantine)

The cases include 34 locals and 14 foreigners. Four are receiving hospitalized treatment.

Two islands – G. Dh. Hoadedhoo and G. Dh. Madaveli – are under monitoring.

8,077 coronavirus patients in Maldives have since recovered, marking for an 84 percent recovery rate.

Meanwhile, 33 patients have died from complications.
