Parliament to reconvene for 3rd session on October 5

The Parliament is scheduled to reconvene for the first sitting of the third session of the year on October 5.

The Parliament held its last sitting of the second session of the year and went into recess on September 6.

The Parliament held 37 sittings and passed 21 legislatures during the second sitting. Before going into recess, Deputy Speaker Eva Abdulla announced that the Parliament completed 68 percent of the workload for the session.

Regulations establish that the second parliament session will conclude at the end of August. However, the session was extended in order to vote on the request for approval for the appointment new Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom.
