Schools recommence in Male' City

After nearly a month, schools in the capital Male’ City have once again recommenced.

Initially, schools were commenced for Grades 9 and above in July, due to a significant reduction of COVID-19 cases.

Schools were to commence with intense safety measures such as wearing masks and disinfection procedures. However, as cases started to increase, authorities closed down schools once again and education was continued online.

Today, schools commenced for Grades 9 and above one again. Education Ministry stated that the move was after consultations with the Health Protection Agency (HPA). The current commencement of schools is due to a reduction of cases once again in the capital.

Grades 11, 12 have already commenced studies, while for other grades, classes were conducted online. 

The country saw the closure of schools initially in March at the beginning of the outbreak in Male’ City.
