COVID-19: ICU facilities empty for 4 days

Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has said that ICU facilities for COVID-19 in the Maldives have remained empty for four days.

Currently, the Maldives has 1,099 cases of the virus with 65 hospitalized cases. However, no cases are admitted to ICU facilities.  

In a presser last night, HEOC Spokesperson Dr. Nazla Rafeeq said that 58 individuals were being treated in the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility with six cases in the COVID-19 facility in G.A. Atoll. Only one is being treated at the Dharumavantha Hospital. No patients are being treated at the 11th-floor facility of Dharumavantha Hospital, according to Dr. Nazla. 

“During the last four days, no one had to be treated in ICU facilities of the country.” Said Dr. Nazla who also added that hospitalized cases were also getting fewer. 

Maldives has confirmed 10,567 cases of the virus. 9,427 individuals have also recovered from the virus. 34 cases were confirmed yesterday. 

The caseload in the nation has been slowly going down over the last couple of days.
