Rumors that a Maldivian in Malaysia had passed away due to COVID-19 has been proven wrong.
The news that a Maldivian national passed away in Malaysia due to COVID-19, has been circulated on social media.
However, Maldivian Foreign Ministry officials said that they were not aware of any such deaths. The Foreign Ministry also said that no Maldivian in Malaysia infected with COVID-19 was in a serious state.
Malaysia is a nation frequently visited by Maldivians., The country is also home to a large student population of Maldivians.
