Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) has stated that some of the test kits procured to diagnose COVID-19 have been damaged during warehousing.

In a press conference on Monday night, HEOC spokesperson and epidemiologist Dr. Nazla Rafeeq said that the issues were identified with one specific batch of test kits.

She said the issue with test kits from the batch was identified during further examination after due to lack of accurate results from the test kits.

“Further investigation into this and identifying whether any persons are required to be held responsible for this is being carried out in accordance with standard protocol,” she said.

Nazla said that not all test kits from the batch had to be discarded, and that the majority of the test kits were of serviceable quality.

She said that authorities still have 3,000 test kits from the batch.
