COVID-19: Maldives records 25 new cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), has announced 25 additional cases of the new coronavirus, increasing confirmed coronavirus cases in the Maldives to 11,616.

According to HPA, the new cases include 16 locals and nine foreigners.

16 of the cases were identified from the greater Male’ region, while the remaining nine cases were identified from other atolls.

Meanwhile, 48 additional coronavirus patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 10,733.

With the new developments, Maldives now has 839 active cases.

There are 269 patients in isolation facilities and 55 in hospitals.

1,470 samples have been tested for the new coronavirus over the last 24 hours.

  • October 23: 33 cases

37 coronavirus patients have died from complications. There are active cases in 21 inhabited islands as well as 23 resorts. Positive cases confirmed from resorts include 30 tourists and 89 staff.
