COVID-19: Deceased case determined as COVID-19 death

A 43-year old deceased individual taken to Hulhumale' Hospital has been determined as a COVID-19 death by the Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC).

The individual tested positive for COVID-19 after his body was taken to the Hulhumale' Hospital today. "We are yet to determine whether it is a death directly related to COVID-19." stated the HPA earlier.

The individual is a male Bangladeshi national aged 43. According to HEOC, the individual was dead when he was taken to the hospital.

HEOC has now confirmed that the individual's death has been determined as a COVID-19 death, meaning that the Maldives has now recorded 40 deaths.

The Maldives has confirmed a total of 11,986 cases of COVID-19. 24 cases were confirmed tonight, with the Maldives now counting 847 active cases.
