COVID-19: Out of 2,613 samples, eight test positive

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced eight additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 13,501. With the new cases, Maldives has a total of 517 active cases.

Four of the new cases were identified from the Greater Male' Area while one was confirmed from other inhabited islands. Three cases were also confirmed from resorts.  

Meanwhile, 34 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 12,929. There are a total of 40 patients in the hospital.

HPA specified that 2,613 samples were collected for the virus in the last 24 hours. Health officials have so far collected 291,924 samples for the virus.

48 COVID-19 patients have died from complications.
