Education Ministry: Quarantine of teachers will not disrupt studies

The Education Ministry has stated that the education of schools would not be hindered despite the quarantine of teachers due to positive COVID-19 cases. 

Some teachers of schools have had to go into quarantine in light of contact tracing from positive cases. They include teachers from Ameeniya School in Male’ City and Ghaazee School in the suburb of Hulhumale’. 

Media official of the Education Ministry Azdha Mohamed stated to Sun that the studies of students would not be disrupted din light of this. 

“Things are being planned and managed so that the studies of students would not be interrupted.” Said Azdha. 

A total of 12 teachers have been quarantined after the positive cases in Ghaazee School. The figure is from contact tracing efforts up until yesterday and is likely to increase. 

A foreign teacher of Ameeniya School who tested positive has led to the quarantine of other teachers. However, the teacher was not in contact with any students at the school. 

Four students of Billabong High International School also tested positive recently. Health officials have stated that the students had not attended the school before testing positive and that no others from the school were quarantined in light of this.
