Authorities in the Maldives have changed the timings to open public parks in the capital.

Male’ City Council stated that parks will also no longer be provided for public gatherings such as parties. The City Council stated that the measures were in light of the increase in COVID-19 cases.

The City Council specified that the Sultan Park and Lonuziyaaraiy Park will be open from 5:00 to 8:00 and 17:00 to 20:00. Previously, the parks had been open from 4:30 to 9:30 and 16:30 to 21:30.

Public gatherings and parties will also not be permitted in parks temporarily. Booking cancellations will be informed by the Council.

Guidelines of the HPA will also be enforced in parks with a limit on the number of people permitted inside at the same time.

Temperature checks are also to be conducted on everyone visiting and mask-wearing is mandatory while hand washing arrangements are to be made inside. Social distancing is also encouraged while inside the parks.
