Maldives confirmed 2,156 cases in January alone

In January alone, the Maldives confirmed 2,156 cases of COVID-19, statistics have shown.

Information published on the dashboard of the Health Ministry shows that prior to January, the Maldives had 13,744 confirmed cases of the virus in total. Active cases were numbered at 458, while recoveries were numbered at 13,238. 

However, January has seen a third wave of the virus crash on the nation with the total number of cases now standing at 2,156. 887 patients recovered from the virus in total. 

The Maldives also commenced its vaccination drive yesterday. However, as the drive carries on, authorities are expected to clamp down on safety measures due to the high increase in cases.
