A 79-year-old COVID-19 patient in Addu City has been moved to the Addu Covid Management Hospital.

Addu Emergency Operations Center reports the patient was hospitalized on Friday night, and is in critical condition.

“A critical high risk person of age 79 years has been admitted to Addu Covid Management Hospital last night,” announced AEOC.

The Addu Covid Management Hospital is currently treating three patients.

Addu has 53 active COVID-19 cases; 25 from Hulhumeedhoo, 17 from Hithadhoo district, seven from Feydhoo district, and four from Maradhoo-Feydhoo.

Addu City has been under monitoring since February 6. The increase in cases in the city has prompted authorities to impose additional measures to control the spread of the disease, including a 8:00 pm to 4:30 am curfew, a ban on travel between the different districts of the city, a ban on parties, functions and other events, a ban on crowds of more than three persons, a ban on sporting activities, and the closure of teashops and hotels, gyms, salons and barber’s shops. Schools, colleges and universities have also been closed for face-to-face classes.
