Fisherman sustains fish hook injury to the eye, transported to Kulhudhuffushi for treatment

A fisherman, who sustained a fish hook injury to the eye while fishing in the Kulhudhuffushi Buoy area on Sunday, has been transported to Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) identified the injured fisherman as a 35-year-old Maldivian male. He is a crew member of the fishing boat “Niumaih”.

He has been transported to Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital for emergency treatment with assistance from the MNDF Northern Area Coastguard Squadron.

Some have lost their eyesight due to similar incidents in the past, prompting some fishermen to begin wearing goggles as a precaution.
