Maldives records 62nd death related to COVID-19

Maldives today recorded its 62nd death related to COVID-19. 

Reliable sources have confirmed to Sun that the deceased was a 62-year-old local male. This is the second virus-related death in two days in the nation. Yesterday an 80-year-old local female receiving treatment at the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility also passed away due to the virus. 

COVID-19 deaths are on the rise as the Maldives struggles to control the third wave of the virus.

HPA statistics have shown that the Maldives recorded six deaths from December 2020 to January 2021. However, in February alone, the Maldives has recorded eight deaths. 

Authorities have since strengthened safety measures in the capital as cases remain high.
