Maldives to begin administering 2nd Sinopharm shot on Tuesday

Maldives is scheduled to begin administering the second dose of Sinopharm vaccine in the greater Male’ region on Tuesday.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) states that the second dose of Sinopharm vaccine will be administered from two vaccination centers. They are:

  • Tree Top Hospital: 10:00-12:00 (for non-fasting individuals) and 20:30-23:00 hours
  • People’s Majlis: 21:00-23:30 hours

The second dose will initially be available to all individuals who got their first dose between March 22-23.

The first dose of Sinopharm is available from the Tree Top Hospital from 21:00-23:00 hours.

Those who go to get vaccinated are required to take their national ID card or other official identification documents and must not exhibit symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or be under quarantine. They must also present their vaccination card if they are receiving their second dose.

They are also advised to wear loose clothing to make it easier to show their shoulder for the vaccine shot, carry their own water bottles. They are also required to disclose information regarding the medication they are currently on.

Maldives launched its COVID-19 vaccination campaign on February 1. Since then, 281,848 people have received their first dose and 45,817 people have received their second dose.
