Criminal Court goes to two-week recess

Criminal Court has announced that they will be in recess for a two-week period, ending on July 10.

During the recess period, the court will only schedule hearings that are crucial. Nevertheless, the Court will continue to conduct remand hearings of detainees and review and issue court orders upon request of investigative bodies.

Criminal Court further noted that the following activities will be conducted during the recess period:

  • Training for Legal Officers on the Criminal Procedure Code
  • Discussion forum on the Criminal Procedure Code with the Court’s judges in participation 
  • Training on the use of Dhivehi Language for employees in collaboration with Dhivehi Bahuge Academy
  • Special meeting for employees
  • Meeting with Department of Judicial Administration and other relevant authorities on how to improve the work being carried out by the Court
