COVID-19: 110 new cases, 72 from atolls

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Tuesday, announced 110 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in the Maldives to 78,578.      

According to HPA, the 110 new cases include; 25 cases from the greater Male’ region, 72 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 13 cases from operational resorts.

Meanwhile, 118 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 75,778.      

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,562 active cases.      

There are 19 patients in hospitals.      

5,301 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,697 from the greater Male' region.

August 7: 113 cases 

August 6: 131 cases  

August 5: 104 cases  

August 4: 137 cases  

Maldives has recorded 222 COVID-19 deaths. 

On Tuesday, a total of 1,162 people had gotten their first dose whereas a total of 1,668 people had gotten their second dose.

With these new developments, a total of 332,816 people have received their first dose out of which 287,599 people have completed the second dose.
