Opposition coalition has submitted an emergency motion to the Parliament urging an investigation into the allegations made by former Tourism Minister Ali Waheed against President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in connection to the MMPRC scandal – urging that the President be suspended from duties until said investigations are concluded.

The emergency motion was submitted to the parliament floor by PNC’s Vice President, Madduvari MP Adam Shareef Umar, today.

During a press conference held by Ali Waheed – on trial of multiple allegations of sexual misconduct – last night, he had accused President Solih of taking a large black bag containing over MVR 35 million out of former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb’s apartment in Rehendhi Flat.

The emergency motion read that such serious allegations against a person in a high stature such as of a president must be independently investigated. It was also noted that President Solih must be suspended from his duties until the conclusion of the investigation.

The emergency motion has not been scheduled in today’s parliamentary session.
