The main state hospital - Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) - has made the decision to open a flu clinic in Male’ City following an increase in cases of viral fever and flu in the greater Male’ region.

IGMH announced in a statement on Saturday that the flu clinic will be located at the building which previously housed the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).

The flu clinic will be open from 08:30 am to 10:00 pm everyday, starting Sunday.

IGMH has advised those who have fever and other flu symptoms to go to the flu clinic instead of the hospital.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has warned of a significant increase in cases of viral fever in flu in the greater Male’ region over the past three months.

Many of the flu clinics previously opened in the greater Male’ region have been closed after COVID-19 cases dropped. Male’ City currently has a flu clinic at Senahiya Hospital, while ADK Hospital has an online flu clinic. Hospitals in suburban Hulhumale’ and Vilimale’ also have flu clinics.
