COVID-19: 122 new cases; 1,564 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, announced 122 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 84,484.      

According to HPA, the 122 new cases include; 38 cases from the greater Male’ region, 78 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 2 case from operational resorts, and 4 cases from liveaboards. 

Meanwhile, 44 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 82,676.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,564 active cases.      

There are 16 patients in hospitals.      

4,119 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,280 from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 2 percent. 

With the 122 new infections this Monday, 829 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.   

September 27: 122 cases 

September 26: 72 cases 

September 25: 126 cases 

September 24: 61 cases 

September 23: 86 cases 

September 22: 142 cases 

September 21: 220 cases 

Maldives has recorded 231 COVID-19 deaths.
