COVID-19: 83 new cases; 1,237 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Sunday, announced 83 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 85,548.      

According to HPA, the 83 new cases include; 23 cases from the greater Male’ region, 54 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 6 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 107 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 84,064.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 1,237 active cases.      

There are 13 patients in hospitals.      

4,147 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,231 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 1 percent. 

With the 83 new infections this Sunday, 506 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.   

October 10: 83 cases 

October 9: 71 cases 

October 8: 46 cases 

October 7: 70 cases 

October 6: 80 cases 

October 5: 91 cases 

October 4: 65 cases 

Maldives has recorded 234 COVID-19 deaths.
