Teacher accused of sexually abusing preschooler suspended

The teacher who has been accused of sexually abusing a student in a school in Male’ City – has been suspended from duties.

Education Ministry said that upon receiving information that a case of sexual abuse had been brought to the attention of a school – they are probing into the matter, classifying it as serious.

The Ministry also added that they are taking all actions necessary regarding the case. On this note, the Ministry said that the accused teacher has been suspended from duties.

They also stressed that a serious probe is ongoing – in collaboration with relevant investigative bodies.  

A police spokesperson confirmed to Sun on Saturday afternoon that the sexual abuse of child in a school in Male’ City has been reported to the authorities. However, the spokesperson did not say when the report was filed, and declined to disclose any further details. 

No arrests have been regarding the case.

Sun has been informed the victim is a four-year-old preschool student.

The latest case of sexual violence against a child had come to light a day after the police arrested a suspect for the sexual abuse of an 11-year-old girl by an individual in a position of trust at a northern island.

The suspect arrested is a 37-year-old Maldivian man.
