Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed the land reclamation and shore protection project in K. Guraidhoo.
MTCC said it completed the project on September 27.
Under the project, MTCC dredged a 644,000 square meter area in the island’s lagoon, reclaimed 15 hectors of land, and contracted a boulder revetment in a 1,200-meter area.
MTCC’s CEO Adam Azim has previously stated that the Guraidhoo project had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that work on the project was resumed under the “new normal”.
The project is valued at MVR 85.04 million.
MTCC states the project was conducted to solve the shortage of land facing Guraidhoo residents.
