Fahiveni Badminton Court, renovated with assistance from Pakistan, reopens

Fahiveni Badminton Court at the suburban Hulhumale’, which was renovated with financial assistance from the High Commission of Pakistan in Maldives, has reopened.

A special ceremony was held on Wednesday, for the reopening of the Court after renovations which saw the attendance of High Commissioner of Pakistan to the Maldives Vice Admiral (Retired) Ather Mukhtar, Deputy High Commissioner Zulqurnain Ahmad, Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Suhail Ahmed, senior officials from HDC and badminton players.

Speaking at the ceremony, Suhail said the renovated Court will provide a good playing facility to Hulhumale’ residents – adding that the improved online booking system at the Court will bring much easements to the public. He also thanked Pakistan, for the assistance rendered.

High Commissioner Mukhtar also spoke at the ceremony. He stressed that the renovation is a gift from the people of Pakistan to the People of Maldives. He also affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continue working together for the provision of the best sports facilities and opportunities to the talented youths in the Maldives.

A friendly badminton match was also played to the reopening of the Court following renovations. High Commissioner Mukhtar awarded prizes to the winning team.
