Ali Midhuhath, has been removed from his post as a board member at state’s media, Public Service Media (PSM).

Midhuhath was informed that he is being removed from his post today.

A letter informing Midhuhath stating the same by Privatization Board today, read that they have been informed that the President has deemed him unfit to remain in the post. Thus, as per the request of the President’s Office, he is being removed from his post as a board member at PSM effective of today.

Midhuhath, who has previously served at Sun TV’s station in charge, has been removed from PSM’s board at a time he has raised voice against the government in some matters.

In this regard, he has raised his voice against contracting a certain party for the project to build a 15-story tower at TVM premises; a project initiated by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

He has also raised his voice against PSM’s decision to classify Victory Day as that of a ‘B category’ special occasion.

As per information received by Sun, it has been decided that TVM’s former Chief Operating Office Mohamed Asif (Mondhu) will be appointed to the board in Midhuhath’s place. Mondhu, who has also served as the CEO of VTV, has also filled the post of Maldives Media Council’s President.

According to the law, board members should be appointed to PSM by the privatization board. The board is comprised of five members including the Managing Director and the Deputy Managing Director at PSM.
