Ambulances sent to Nilandhoo, Kolamaafushi and Kunahandhoo

The second shipment of 20 ambulances procured through State Trading Organization (STO) have been delivered to GA. Nilandhoo, GA. Kolamaafushi and L. Kunahandhoo.

The ambulances were sent to the three islands on Sunday.

The second shipment of 20 ambulances were brought to Maldives in late November.

Ambulances were handed over to six islands on Friday; Th. Dhiyamigili, Th. Buruni, Th. Vandhoo, N. Kudafari, N. Fodhdhoo, and M. Kolhufushi.

Therefore, 11 islands have yet to receive ambulances. They are:

  • HDh. Kumundhoo
  • Sh. Bilehfahi
  • Sh. Narudhoo
  • B. Kendhoo
  • AA. Mathiveri
  • ADh. Mandhoo
  • ADh. Fenfushi
  • F. Feeali
  • GDh. Rathafandhoo
  • AA. Bodufulhadhoo
  • M. Dhiggaru

The first shipment of 20 ambulances were brought to Maldives in October.

STO was contracted to procure 96 ambulances to improve the quality of health services in local islands back in May. 

Health Ministry has previously stated that 60 ambulances will be brought to Maldives before the end of this year.

According to the Health Ministry, the remaining 20 ambulances are expected to arrive in Maldives in mid or later December.
