MWSC inaugurates water and sewerage project in Olhuvelifushi

Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has inaugurated the water and sewerage project in Olhuvelifushi, a residential island located in Lh. Atoll. 

The project was inaugurated by MWSC’s Managing Director Hassan Shah, Kurendhoo MP Abdul Ghanee Abdul Hakeem, Lh. Atoll Council’s President Yaseen Abdulla, and Olhuvelifushi Council’s President Mohamed Azim in a ceremony in Olhuvelifushi on Saturday. 

The water project in Olhuvelifushi involves establishing a 9.72-kilometer main water pipeline network, construction of an RO facility, installation of two RO plants, and three water tanks to store water.     

Additional work includes installation of water meters in households, providing water connections, and supplying clean and safe drinking water.   

MWSC said that 35 percent of the work on the facility that will house the water plant is already complete.     

MWSC will provide a generator set and vehicles needed to manage the water and sanitation system, and equipment to test the water quality.  

The project was contracted to MWSC by Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Ministry for MVR 80.08 million.
