Mosque to be built in newly populated area of Dhiyamigili

The government has made the decision to build a mosque in the newly populated area of Th. Dhiyamigili, which, the Islamic Ministry said, will be the same size as the existing mosque in the island. 

The MVR 8.8 million project was contracted to A Man Maldives Pvt. Ltd. On Tuesday morning. 

The contract was signed by Islamic Ministry’s Deputy Director and Acting Permanent Secretary Abdul Aziz Ismail and A Man Maldives’ Director Murshida Ali Manik. 

The company is required to complete the project within one year.

Construction is scheduled to begin next year. 

Islamic Ministry states the mosque will have the capacity to accommodate 300 people.  

Dhiyamigili Council’s Vice President Mohamed Muneer told Sun that the existing mosque in Dhiyamigili is located in the southern end of the island. 

He said the new mosque is being built in the newly populated area of the island.
