‘Port Safety Week Run’ to take place tomorrow at Hulhumale’ International Terminal

The last activity under the Port Safety Week initiated by Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) from December 26 to December 31 – ‘Port Safety Week Run’ is set to take place at Hulhumale’ International Terminal tomorrow.

Scheduled to commence at 6:30am tomorrow – MPL said that about 300 individuals will be taking part in the run. They include cabinet ministers, senior officials from government authorities and companies as well as members of the parliament.

MPL also detailed that winners of the 5-kilometer run will receive cash prizes. On this note, runner finishing first place will win MVR 2,500; runner finishing second place will win MVR 1,500 and runner finishing third place will win MVR 500.

They also noted the money raised from selling the jersey specialized for the run will be donated to the non-governmental organization, Advocating Rights of Children (ARC).

MPL said that the purpose of dedicating a week to create awareness on occupational health and safety amongst the public is to promote a culture that prioritizes safety and protection.

As part of promoting the run, MPL handed over the jersey dedicated for the run to Vice President Faisal Naseem; Transport Minister Aishath Nahula; Higher Education Minister Dr. Ibrahim Hassan, MTCC’s CEO Adam Azim, STO’s Managing Director Hussain Amru Mohamed Rashad.
