VIA breaks new air traffic movement record

Velana International Airport on Sunday broke a new record for air traffic movement in a single day. 

According to Maldives Airports Company (MACL), a total of 826 movements were recorded on Sunday, January 2, 2022.

We are pleased to announce that on January 2, 2022, @VelanaAirport set a new air traffic movement record.

There were 233 runway movements and 593 seaplane movements.
A total of 826 movements were made, setting a new record.

This figure includes 233 runway movements and 593 seaplane movements. 

The previous record was 811 air traffic movements within a day, recorded on January 5, 2020. However, air traffic soon slowed down and came to a complete halt in 2020, following the global pandemic COVID-19.
