MTCC contracted for projects at Ungoofaaru, Maakurathu

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted for two projects at Raa atoll islands; Ungoofaaru and Maakurathu.

In a ceremony held at the Planning Ministry today, the agreements pertaining to the projects were signed by Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Ahmed and MTCC’s CEO, Managing Director Adam Azim.

R. Ungoofaaru Channel Relocation Project

The project is valued at MVR 18 million – and will be funded from the state budget.

Scope of work under the project includes dredging operations of 41,980 cubic meters at the harbor and the channel; building a 162-meter outer quay wall and installation of navigational lights. The work must be completed with seven months.

R. Maakurathu Harbor Development Project

Contracted to be completed within a period of one year, the project is valued at MVR 26 million – and will be funded from the state budget.

Scope of work under the project includes reclaiming 45,023.84 cubic meters; installing a breakwater of 140 meters; groyne measuring 28 meters; revetment measuring 85 meters; inner quay wall measuring 129 meters and installation of a pavement measuring 641 square meters.

The current administration has initiated a lot of harbor development projects; whilst some of them has been completed and the developed harbors currently in use. In this regard, harbor projects at HDh. Nellaidhoo and N. Landoo were completed last week.
