Booster dose administration opened for all above 18 years

The administration of booster dose has been opened for all individuals that are above the age of 18.

In an announcement publicized by the Health Protection Agency (HPA), they said that all individuals above the age of 18 who have received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine six months ago, are eligible for the booster dose.

They detailed that Pfizer will be administered as the booster dose. Individuals residing in the Greater Male’ Area can make their appointments for the jab through book.hpa.gov.mv.

Requirements when going to receive the booster dose:

  • Bringing ID Card, or an official document for identification purposes
  • Should not be an individual showing symptoms of the disease or an individual undergoing quarantine
  • Wearing loose clothing, with easy access to shoulders
  • Having eaten well prior
  • Taking an own water bottle
  • Going alone

As of present, a total of 368,622 individuals have been fully vaccinated – from which 29,089 individuals have received the booster dose.

The administration of booster dose for all above the age of 18 has been opened at a time COVID-19 cases in the country are on the rise, with the detection of the new variant, Omicron. In this regard, on Thursday alone, 816 new cases were recorded, out of which 413 cases were from the Greater Male’ Area.
