It has been announced that civil servants who are testing positive for COVID-19, or come in contact with an individual positive for COVID-19, are to work from home.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) revised the number of days COVID-19 patients are to quarantine on last Thursday.

As per the revised guidelines, individuals who are fully vaccinated that test positive for COVID-19, will only have to quarantine for seven days if they are asymptomatic. Meanwhile, contacts of a confirmed case, if fully vaccinated, will have to quarantine for 10 days, counting from the date of contact.

Contacts to confirmed cases that are not fully vaccinated will have to quarantine for 14 days. Such individuals will only be released from quarantine with a negative PCR test.

Civil Service Commission has publicized a circular following the changes made by HPA.

As per the circular, government offices are to make arrangements for employees testing positive for COVID-19, or coming in contact with a confirmed case, to work from home during the period of days they would have to quarantine.

The circular comes at a time the number of COVID-19 cases has significantly hiked in the Maldives over the past two weeks. Within the last 24 hours alone, over 1,200 new cases have been confirmed.
