COVID-19: 2,349 new cases; 13,035 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Saturday, announced 2,349 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 114,977.     

According to HPA, the 2,349 new cases include; 1,325 cases from the greater Male’ region, 681 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 54 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 849 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 101,660.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 13,035 active cases.      

There are 48 patients in hospitals.      

7,574 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 3,635 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 36 percent. 

With the 2,349 new infections on Saturday, 12,605 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.  

January 22: 2,349 cases 

January 21: 1,697 cases 

January 20: 2,199 cases 

January 19: 2,137 cases 

January 18: 1,594 cases 

January 17: 1,420 cases 

January 16: 1,209 cases 

Maldives has recorded 269 COVID-19 deaths.
