Fireworks to be held tonight on occasion of Police’s anniversary

A firework show is scheduled to take place tonight on the occasion of the 89th anniversary of Maldives Police Service.

Police said that the firework show will be held at 10:00 pm tonight, at Hulhumale’ Central Park.

As part of the celebratory events marking the 89th anniversary of Maldives Police Service, flag hoisting ceremonies were held at police stations established in Male’ City and atolls. The flag hoisting ceremony at Male’ City took place in front of the police headquarters, Shaheed Hussain Adam Building. The flag hoisting ceremonies at atolls were held at local police stations established at residential islands.

A ceremony was also held at Republic’s Square last night, which was attended by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Solih affirmed that the government is committed to enhancing the capacity of the police and assured that the police would be provided with the necessary human resources, training and technologies required to elevate their standard.

He also underscored that a police presence would be established on all inhabited islands in the country by 2023 in a major initiative to ensure a safe and secure Maldives. 

During the ceremony, President Solih also awarded medals to recipients and launched a mobile phone application developed by the Maldives Police Service.
