A deadline has been given to remove the temporary house established at Hiyaa Flat area by migrants.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) said that migrants had built the temporary house at the food stalls established at the Hiyaa Flat area.

It is unclear how many migrants are residing at this temporary house – however, HDC has confirmed the existence of the said house.

The corporation stressed that they were probing the matter. They also noted that notice has been issued for the removal of the temporary house by next Sunday.

HDC banned the operation of food stalls near Hiyaa Flat on last Sunday.

With reference to the fact that many construction works are carried out in the area, HDC, in an announcement, noted having received complaints about failure to meet the sanitary requirements in the provision of food services at such stalls which has increased fears of possible disease outbreaks.

They also stressed that such food stalls were being operated without the necessary permits required from authorities – therefore in violation of the established rules and regulations.

Henceforth, HDC had ordered individuals operating food stalls in the area to remove their stalls starting and completely halt the operations of food stalls by next Sunday.

They added that action will be taken against those operating food stalls in the area after Sunday, and their stalls will be impounded.
