State Trading Organization (STO) has introduced green concrete to Maldives.

Green concrete is a concrete which uses waste material as at least one of its components. Its production process does not lead to environmental destruction, and it has high performance and life cycle sustainability.

Green concrete cuts carbon dioxide emission by 10-15 percent compared to conventional concrete.

STO states it introduced the product to support Maldives’ target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2030.

Green concrete was first introduced to the world in 1998 in Denmark.
